This is a link to a gallery of videos that can't be posted to this blog. JUSTIN I think you might find these particularly interesting, particularly the one called Cello-Shifts (Classes of Shifts-1). The videos are about 1-3 minutes long. They get right to the point of explaining so many aspects of cello playing. This is a gold mine of online cello information!!
I watched the Steve Doane Shift 1: It's funny that he uses vibrato. I noticed how he turned his body to adress the shift. I didn't know that going down- the higher number note gets to lead.
ReplyDeleteI also watched the string crossing: Clockwise is wax on not anticlockwise. I didn't know that in this case the hand gets the lead in the chain of command. He sounded great on the Bach Cello sonata.
